Hi everybody,
I'm doing pixel-calculations on the serverside. I write a text with Arial, BOLD, 12pt and then measure the pixel width.
The problem: I get different pixel-widths on Windows and Solaris because the font-rendering differs. The spaces between the individual text-glyphs are smaller on Windows than on Solaris.
I have Arial installed in Windows and Solaris 2.6. In Solaris, I copied the Arial-TTF-files into jre/lib/fonts and edited jre/lib/fonts/fonts.dir to include:
arial.ttf -monotype-arial-regular-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
arialbd.ttf -monotype-arial-bold-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
arialbi.ttf -monotype-arial-bold-i-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
ariali.ttf -monotype-arial-regular-i-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
Please, can you help me? I need to calculate identical pixel-sizes on Win and Solaris.
Regards,
Jörn.
